Beyoncé Makes History With Coachella’s Terrific Performance
“Are you ready, Coachella?” She asked the crowd as he opened his set, becoming the first woman of color to head the music festival in Indio, California.
The enthusiastic fans had a new nickname for this year’s festival: Beychella. Other headliners including the Weeknd and Eminem.
“Coachella, thank you for allowing me to be the first black woman to lead,” Beyonce said, before singing “Run the World Girls.”
The singer opened her long-awaited performance with a marching band version of her hit “Crazy in Love,” and then sang a version of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” also known as the black national anthem.
For almost two hours, Beyoncé revealed surprise after surprise.
A tribute to Nina Simone and quotes from Malcolm X. She also sang “Deja Vu” with her husband, Jay-Z, and danced with her sister, Solange.
After months of rumors, Coachella attendees also saw a meeting of Destiny’s Child. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams appeared on stage with Beyoncé to sing several of their hits, including “Say My Name”.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas, who represents the hometown of Beyonce, Houston, congratulated the singer.
“Houston’s own Beyonce is giving us the dream performance at the Coachella 2018! I’m very proud that the artist, animator, and global philanthropist Beyonce has become …”, he wrote on Twitter.

One year in Making
The superstar was scheduled to head last year’s festival, but it was canceled on the doctor’s orders because she was pregnant with twins at that time. Lady Gaga intervened as her replacement.
She and her husband, rapper Jay-Z, welcomed Rumi and Sir Carter last June.
Beyoncé fans, known as BeyHive, have been waiting to see her perform since last year’s Grammy. Awards.
Shortly before Saturday’s performance, the singer said she was eager to see her fans and posted an Instagram photo in the background.
“I’m so excited to see the BeyHive tonight in Coachella, working hard and having a special show planned for you, so please be careful and stay hydrated,” he wrote on Facebook. “We need your energy!”
Beyoncé and Jay-Z will begin their joint tour this summer.
