Any kind of artistic work draws our attention powerfully, and we are very fans of art made food or food made art. Food art is a trend that has come to stay.

We are also very fans of everything ambiguous, of everything that is not what it seems, of that which plays with our senses and tricks our brains to make us understand that there are puzzles that are absolutely delicious.

In the gastronomy created by chef Ben Churchill, food art and ambiguity are mixed in a series of tricks that are going to leave you and they will make you debate among themselves if you like or horrify you.

Churchill’s art is such that its series of optical illusions hide delicious desserts with the appearance of inanimate objects or completely different dishes.

Churchill is a teacher in the formation of his pannacotta, biscuits, and jellies to imitate the size and shape of what he is trying to imitate; The results are so extremely convincing, that you will only realize that they are goodies once you put the spoon in.

Churchill has been a chef for more than 10 years, but only in the last two years has he tried to make cakes and desserts; as he states, “I decided to learn the basics but, I decided to move on to mimetic food, just to see what could be done.”

Ben allows inspiration to come from anywhere, even if it is the most every day, which results in unexpected creations such as pannacotta cigarettes in an ashtray or a “sponge” cleaning sponge or rather a sweet milk foam.

Churchill published his first book, “Food Illusions vol. 1” in 2017 and is available on Amazon; Do you enter these desserts that are not what they seem?
