Makeup Tutorials For Acne Coverage That Will Actually Help[Video]
How to cover acne scars without using too much makeup
Covering acne scars is a matter of balance. If you use too much makeup or too little, (not to mention an error in the tone), you may wish to highlight the scars. Using too much can make your skin look caked and flaky, and obviously, it’s not the look you’re after. Using little makeup does not solve the problem either. To disguise acne scars effectively, first make sure you are using the right kind of makeup for your skin.
Check (and revise) the tone of your base; To do it right, you have to match exactly with the color of your skin. A good place to try it is in the jawline. If you have the right tone, you should not be able to see the dreaded line of makeup along the jaw.
Choose a base formulated for your skin type. Many companies make bases for acne-prone skin that do not contain oil and are noncomedogenic, which means they do not clog pores.
Use a moisturizer on your face and neck before applying the concealer and base. This will give you a soft canvas to work on. Let it dry before you start your makeup routine.
Apply a small amount of concealer on the scars you want to cover, and gently mix it on the skin using a sponge for clean makeup. Your concealer should be without oils and combine with the tone of your skin to better hide acne scars. Using too much concealer can make the situation worse, so use only enough to cover the marks. Ideally, you should not be able to see the corrector or the scar.
